Today October 1st, 2016
We had a great and unique ministry opportunity to share with our church family members, friends, neighbors and their animal family members for a “Blessing of the Animals” at 2:00 p.m. on the front lawn of the church. Our animal family members received a blessing & a special token.
Prayer for the Animals: O Almighty God, who hast made all the earth and every creature that dwells therein; help us, we pray thee, to treat with compassion the living creatures entrusted to our care, that they may not suffer from our neglect, nor become the victims of any cruelty. Bless all who serve in their behalf, and help us to find in caring for them a deeper understanding of thy love for all creation; through Jesus Christ thy Son, our Lord. Amen

Prayer for the suffering Animals: “Hear our humble prayer, O God, for our friends the animals, especially for animals who are suffering; for all that are overworked and underfed and cruelly treated; for all wistful creatures that are in captivity that beat against their bars; for any that are hunted or lost or deserted or frightened or hungry; for all that are in pain or dying; for all that must be put to death. We entreat for them all mercy and pity; and for those who deal with them we ask a heart of compassion and gentle hands and kindly words. Make us ourselves to be true friends to animals and so to share the blessings of the merciful. Through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.” Our prayer on this day of “The Blessing of the Animals” and our remembrance of St. Francis of Assisi.
